Volunteering at PNC Arena
During the months of October through April, our Wake Forest High School Band Boosters run a fundraising opportunity to work at PNC Arena. We provide the opportunity for our parents and students to volunteer at PNC where we staff a concession stand/cart for events. Student must be at least 16 years old to be able to volunteer at PNC. Working at PNC is a great opportunity to contribute funds towards your student’s Fair Share account and raise money for the general booster fund. Most of the funds from this activity goes directly to your student’s account with a small percentage going to the Band Booster general fund. We currently have one stand that we staff for select events at PNC where we typically staff 3-4 volunteers.
Working at PNC is not hard work and can be a lot of fun! It is a great opportunity to meet some of the other band/guard parents and members.
For the 2021-2022 PNC event season we have requested to work the GMPOP carts. These carts sell popcorn bags, pretzels, candy, water and soda and are located in the concourse areas. These carts need 3-4 volunteers/event and both PARENTS AND STUDENTS can volunteer. Student volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and we MUST have at least 1 parent/adult (18 years or older) to serve as the stand leader for each event.
Look for information about this fundraiser starting around August or Sept as to the events that are coming. For questions, please contact the fundraising coordinator at fundraising@WFHSBands.com.
Additional Details:
What is involved? WFHS Band Boosters staffs a concession stand/cart at PNC. Volunteers must arrive 60 minutes prior to Gate Opening, set up the stand, serve customers, and clean up. PNC Arena has gone cashless so there will be no physical cash to handle/count.
How do I find out about the events? All PNC event information and additional details are available on our group Sign-Up Genius at the following link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A054CA8A8229-2122
Emails will also be regularly sent out detailing events, needs, etc.. These emails will be sent to the email accounts you provided to the Band Director as a part of registration. If you are not receiving these emails and would like to be added to our distribution list please send a note to fundraising@WFHSBands.com.
How much do I earn?
Stand volunteers: WFHS Band Boosters credits a minimum $35 per person per event. This amount is posted directly into your student’s Fair Share Band Account approximately 2 weeks after the event worked. At the end of the PNC event season, a one-time bonus will also be posted to your account. The bonus amount awarded to our organization is based on the total stand sales and tips for the season and is distributed equally amongst all who work based on the number of events worked.
As an example, in past years an average per show bonus was around $15 which at the end of the season results in an average per show payout out of $50 ($35 minimum around the time of the event + $15 bonus at the end of the PNC season). The more events you work, the more that gets applied to your student’s account & the bigger your end of the season bonus will be!! Note – this is provided just as an example. Actual per show payouts for this year may be higher or lower.
Can this money be used toward my Band Fees? YES!!! This money can be used toward Band Fees (ie Fair Share account), Color Guard/Winter Guard fees, and applied towards band trips.
What is the required dress code/attire? Black pants and closed-toed, closed-back shoes must be worn and provided by the volunteer. You can wear your own polo shirt with the WF cougar logo or you can use one that is in the locker (We have 2 small, 2 medium, 4 large, 2 extra large, 1 double extra). You also need to wear a WF or nonbranded black hat/visor and an apron from the locker. There is a locker on site with shirts, aprons and 3 visors (in case you forget yours) for you to wear during your shift then return to the locker.
